See the Pros Up Close

If you want to experience the power, emotion, and athleticism of professional tennis, there's no better way than to be on the court with the players. Tournament organizers are recruiting children and adults age 8 to 88 to serve as ballpeople at the 2007 JSM Challenger. Ballpeople help players keep focused on their match by gathering stray balls between points, handing them a towel, or grabbing an ice cold bottle of water on a changeover. Without ballpeople, matches would take much longer and players wouldn't be able to compete at the top of their game. If you're interested in serving as a ballperson, contact Jeremy Beach at (217) 244-9313 or jbeach@ad.uiuc.edu.

Volunteer Information

If you love tennis and you're interested in working at one of the players' favorite tournaments on the USTA Pro Circuit, contact Annatjie Els at (217) 244-8562. Tournament organizers are seeking volunteers willing to work at the ticket sales desk, as court monitors, and as ushers throughout the tournament. Without the help of our volunteers, the JSM Challenger of Champaign-Urbana would not possess an added level of professionalism that adds to the players' and fans' experience while at the tournament. Volunteers receive an invitation to the Player Welcome Party, receive a tournament T-shirt, and may watch matches on the day they work for free.
