First Round Continues on Day 4

Play is underway on day 4 of the JSM Challenger as the first matches of the day are on court. A second seeded player is now out of the tournament. Somdev Devvarman, the No. 6 seed, has withdrawn because of a shoulder injury. Lucky loser, Cecil Mamiit, has taken his place in the draw.

Today's schedule features a host of former and current Illinois Tennis players. Rajeev Ram and Ryler DeHeart (pictured) will make their debut at the 2009 JSM Challenger in singles play. Illinois junior, Dennis Nevolo, also takes the court in his first singles match against No. 1 seed Kevin Kim. In doubles, Kevin Anderson and Ruben Gonzales will team up to take on Alex Kuznetsov and Jesse Witten.

Later today, No. 4 seed and former top 25 player, Taylor Dent, will take the court and face Izak van der Merwe. At last year's JSM Challenger, Dent began his comeback from serious injury and earned his first match victories on tour since 2006. This year he looks to improve on his 2008 result and is considered a contender for the title.

General admission to the JSM Challenger is free through Wednesday, November 18. Come see top players from around the world showcase their skills at the Atkins Tennis Center. Visit www.illinoischallenger.com frequently for the latest scores, tournament news, and schedules.
