Quarterfinal Matchups Set for Day 5

The JSM Challenger is now in it's closing stages as Day 5 brings quarterfinal play in singles and doubles. The day's most exciting match-up will feature former top 25 player, Taylor Dent, and 2007 JSM Challenger Singles Champion, Jesse Levine (pictured). This will be the first ever meeting between the two players who feature very different styles of play. Dent is a big server who loves to attack the net while Levine is very comfortable grinding from the baseline. Their match will begin not before 6:00 pm.

In other singles action, No. 3 seed Michael Russell will take on qualifier, Bjorn Rehnquist in a match that will likely feature long baseline rallies. The No. 1 seed, Kevin Kim, will take on fellow American Ryan Sweeting for a place in the semifinals. Kim is playing great tennis and has lost a total of eight games all tournament. Finally, two qualifiers who knocked out the remaining Illini in the singles draw last night, will face off for a semifinal birth. Kaden Hensel and Ricardas Berankis will take court one in the last match of the day.

In doubles, defending JSM Challenger Doubles Champion, Rajeev Ram, and partner David Martin will take on Brian and Dann Battistone. Another former Illini player, Ryan Rowe, and partner Ashwin Kumar look to continue their run against Emmrich and Siljestrom who have been playing great tennis the last two weeks. Fans will alsol see Jamie Delgado and John Paul Fruttero battle Alex Kuznetsov and Jesse Witten. The final quarterfinal match features three former Viginia Cavaliers as Dominic Inglot and Rylan Rizza face off against Treat Huey and Harsh Mankad, who played collegiate tennis at Minnesota.

Play at the Atkins Tennis Center begins at noon. Thursday, November 19 marks the first day of paid general admission. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for students.
